Community is about sharing and enriching the lives of the people around you. The Villa Gardens Knitters are great examples of this inspiring approach to life. Since 1989, these generous needle-handy residents have knitted more than 400 blankets for the Red Cross.
Resident Rea Kurtz, a former teacher, put her personal skills and experience to work for the greater community. Rea adopted a local elementary school and created a tutoring program for its students. Villa Gardens residents like Esther Garate regularly visit Jefferson Elementary School to tutor and help the students with their reading. This program has been a huge success, and is something that both the students and residents cherish. It was also Rea's idea to place collection jars around Villa Gardens where our residents can leave their spare change to help the school pay for supplies.
Many Villa Gardens residents enrich their lives by helping others. |
